    Weekend Rigatoni & Cheese

You’ve got to love weekends, sleeping in, curling up under the duvet, a few too many glasses of wine, the smell of a hearty roast in the oven after a long afternoon walk, staying in lounge wear all day or hitting the shops for some retail therapy. The last thing you want to do on a Saturday is cook something laborious. I love Mac ‘n’ Cheese. I used to love the yellow American Deluxe Mac ‘n’ Cheese meal, but it’s so toxic, you feel you innards positively glowing neon inside.. To me, it should be as it says on the tin, cheese, proper cheese, the- ooey-gooey- turns crispy when toasted…

    Cocktail Masterclass at Marcel’s

I’m sitting watching a documentary about American heiresses and “Million Dollar Princesses” of the 1920’s & 1930’s, Wallis Simpson, Lady Emerald Cunard, I LOVE this sort of thing… hearing 1920’s jazz and seeing them sip Martini’s has me thinking about delicious cocktails.. I’m all over anything from the 1920’s, especially cocktails! Last Thursday, I was invited to an exclusive, invitation only  Cocktail Masterclass “influencer night” at Marcel’s to celebrate their first year on Merrion Row after relocating from Ballsbridge. I did a review of their restaurant after our Valentines meal last February. It’s part of the Merchantile Group, owners of some of Dublin’s swankiest bars, restaurants and clubs, Opium, Cafe…

Saving for a mortgage getting you down?

I officially paid off my wedding loan two years after getting married and then the mortgage saving started. I’m 6 years married in November and I feel like I’ve been saving or paying off loans for all of my adult life so far. I have to admit, it sometimes it gets on top of me. I see friends going on holidays, buying loads of gorgeous clothes and it’s enough to make you weep! I feel I can’t enjoy my thirties now because I’ve robbed myself of a social life! Working my ‘posterior’ off in full time work, saving 75% of my salary each week, no concerts, no shopping spree’s no…
