    Tourists in Our Own Town

Sometimes it’s nice to experience your city from the eyes of a tourist and step outside your everyday life for a change.  At some point in your life, be it school or whatever, you will have visited local museums and landmarks and being so young, it would leave a memory but you wouldn’t have taken it all in like an adult. In my twenties, when I lived in Dublin, most weekends, I’d venture into the city and visit the National Gallery or the National History museum, I’ve always been obsessed with Ancient History. Anyway, Ryan and I had a day off together, he’s on two weeks annual leave, which I…

    Wells House, Gorey, Co.Wexford

I recently visited another one of Ireland’s historical houses, Well’s House in Gorey, Co.Wexford.  We’re so incredibly lucky in this country, to have such magnificent period houses and estates that are all accessible to the public! When asking friends if they had head of Wells House, nobody had ever heard of it, is it something that the people of Wexford keep secret? I can see why. If you have young kids and need to entertain them in the most financially friendly way possible, THIS is the place to go! Firstly, it’s just €8 a car, no matter how many people are in it -or animals for that matter, you can…

    Rhubarb Jelly & Custard

There’s one thing I love as the Summer starts to wind down and that’s the amount of gorgeous fruit that we see pouring into greengrocers, rhubarb for example! I’ve always loved rhubarb and my Grandmother used to grow it, we’d have lashings of stewed rhubarb and custard or rhubarb crumble, simply gorgeous! It’s so sweet, tangy and comforting! I missed out on the Elderflower season, I really wanted to make lashings of cordial to see me through the winter, ‘Elderflower Prosecco’ made with well….Prosecco and one part cordial, delish! I got really excited when I saw it in Ikea and tried it out but it wasn’t great. So I went…

The Garnier Ultra Lift 14 Day Challenge

I recently signed up for that Garnier Ultra Lift Challenge we’ve been seeing on TV for the past few weeks? I’m in my early thirties now and I notice slight changes, those all night parties, lying out in the sun on a lounger all day with not a scraping of sun protection on my skin, there are changes in the skin on my forehead and neck and it’s quite alarming when you see it! Suddenly these adverts appeal to you! You imagine yourself walking around with a neck like Joan Rivers, all in the head of course… Put your hands up girls, those of you of my generation 90’s teenagers,…

    The Dublin Horse Show 2015

The Dublin Horse Show has always been on the top of my to to list, I’m not into horse racing but I love jumping and cross country. I’d been going since I was about seven years old when every thing I ever wanted was to be a professional rider, things happened and we moved to Galway when I was 12 and that was the end of that… I’d planned to join the local Polo club this year too but with work and other commitments it just didn’t fit in to my schedule. Anyway,  now I’m back home on the east coast, I decided I was going to attend the Horse…

    Killruddery House & Gardens

I have fallen in love, with one of the most beautiful places in Wicklow, Killruddery House & Gardens, situated just between Bray & Greystones, on the Southern Cross Road. Okay, I knew this place existed, I was a huge fan of The Tudors tv series (I lost interest after the second series, in the show AND Jonathan Rhys Myers) which was filmed there, along with Far & Away, Becoming Jane, Lassie, My Left Foot and others. Killruddery offers the perfect backdrop for weddings and movies with it’s picturesque views of the Wicklow mountains, stunning fountains and classic statues of goddesses and nymphs, brought from Italy over the years, you could…
