Autumn: These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things

    30th August 2018 /

Autumn, oh Autumn, I do love you! I am lamenting that glorious Summer as much as the rest of the country but I do look forward to Fall and the coziness it brings, most of all layering! Isn’t it a gorgeous feeling when you’ve been resisting the ever so slighter crisp mornings and suddenly you resist and yield to cozy cardigans? You feel almost cocooned! All one needs now is a Pumpkin Spiced Latte… right, let’s not get carried away, shall we? Whilst we’re still staying with my Husbands Grandfather, patiently awaiting the builders completion notice for the house, I’m still living out of a suitcase. Having been assured our…

Gift Idea: A Barbershop Treatment For The Dapper Chap, Jonathan’s Barbershop at The Shelbourne

    23rd August 2017 /

Girls, we all know how hard it is to buy presents for men, given some are easily pleased and want video games or clothes. When asked, my my husband’s reply is always “NOTHING! We’re saving for a house, put the money in the savings fund!” I’m sorry but that’s not possible, how can I live with myself if on his Birthday or Christmas, I’ve nothing to handover when he always gives me something gorgeous! I would much rathr be put on the right track and not WASTE money.. I’ve bought him two watches in 10 years, he now doesn’t wear a watch. My Mother was well up in her game…

Dublin Horse Show, Ladies’ Day: Top Tips on Etiquette & The All Important Emergency Kit

    8th August 2017 /

So we’re down to the final few days until the beginning of the Dublin Horse Show. If you’re going to Ladies’ Day, you’ll have planned your outfit, chosen your hat and possibly planning your beauty routine as we speak. It’s one thing dressing up like a proper lady but you’ve got to pull the whole thing off, behaving ladylike with poise. “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades”.-Audrey HepburnOver the years, you’d be amazed at the sights you’d see, bright orange Tango tans, skimpy mini dresses with cleavage hanging out and the highest heels with platform shoes you could imagine, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a…

Dublin Horse Show 2017: Ladies’ Day Outfit Sorted

    3rd August 2017 /

It’s hard to believe we’re into August already.. for me, that means one thing, ‘The Dublin Horse Show’ is happening again. Ladies’ Day takes place on Thursday 10th of August this year and it’s the highlight of my calendar. I LOVE the thrill of dressing up like a proper lady, gloves and heels, up-styles and most importantly the hat! After taking a year out from ladies’ day last year, there was just too much happening and my husband wasn’t well. I’m all set this year, everything is bought and ready, hat is booked, dress hanging in the wardrobe along with shoes, bag & parasol, all I’m in need of now…

Top Tips:5 Steps To Heavenly Hair

    29th March 2017 /

A majority of people hate something about themselves, be it the colour of their eyes, the shape of their body, we always want what we don’t have, it’s a perfectly natural thing. For those with health issues, it’s often soul destroying when side effects take over too, either way you hair is something you CAN change so make the most of it! I’ve a slightly under-active thyroid so my hair and nails are as brittle as you can imagine! To make matters worse, I’ve been abusing my hair for the last decade, when I got my first straightener, I thought it was the most miraculous thing, it made my hair…

    Spring Break: Carton House Hotel

    2nd March 2017 /

We’ve just come back from a couple of days at Carton House, our wedding location from 2010. And I tell you, I feel like I’ve been given a new lease of life! If there’s one thing you do this Spring, treat yourself to the ‘Winter Wonderland’ package (now ‘Spring Sensation’) at Carton House. For €99 per person, you get dinner, accommodation and breakfast, how they can be making money from this I don’t know but I’d take it while it’s available. Included in your package is a €20 off voucher for certain spa treatments. We have been saving for pretty much over 4 years for this mortgage now and that’s…

Valentine’s Day & Gorgeous Gifts To Hint For

    12th February 2017 /

Some may cringe when I say that I’m a romantic, that I believe in Valentine’s day.. Some may say that “If you’re a real romantic, you shouldn’t need Valentine’s day”.. I think it’s lovely to have a day where you just celebrate ‘LOVE’, it needn’t be romantic love but celebrate the love of your family, your pet, do kind deeds and just do generally lovely things.. are you with me? This year, we’re planning a night away in the venue of our wedding, Carton House in Maynooth, dinner and a nights stay followed by time together, enjoying the spa facilities and afternoon tea. From there, we’ll go to The Shelbourne,…

To The Hosts: Let Tesco Help You Make The Perfect Christmas

    12th December 2016 /

It’s definitely starting to feel like.. C H R I S T M A S! The festive feeling kicked off for me earlier last month when I was invited to the Tesco Christmas Press Launch in 25 Fitzwilliam Place, hosted by the beautiful former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt.   Kimberly began the day with a cooking demo of her favourite holiday treats and the evening continued at the Fitzwilliam Place venue afterwards. When I say Tesco went all out, I mean they went ALL out! The door was dressed with a beautiful wreath, garlands and glistening lanterns and as you arrived the host and hostess welcomed you in, took your…

‘Ancient East’ jewellery collection launch at AMOC, Greystones

    8th October 2016 /

When you think about it, Ireland is home to some pretty serious talent, be it fashion, jewellery, music or art… nothing really comes close! This beautiful Island of ours has been churning out talent pretty much since the stone age..     With the new  Failte Ireland ‘Ireland’s Ancient East’ campaign in full swing, it’s a perfect time to focus on another Artist on the east coast. Mette O’Connor, a Danish-Irish jewellery designer with a background in art &  design , fulfilled her dream and opened a studio/retail space in Greystones village in 2007 where she offers a bespoke service as well as offering ready to wear pieces, so beautifully…

The Etiquette Of An Afternoon Tea

    26th July 2016 /

If there’s one thing any girlie girl loves, it’s an afternoon tea. There’s something about silver teapots, crisp table linen and teeny tiny cakes that would give Alice in Wonderland a run for her money. But when it comes to the etiquette, how well do you know your stuff? The History If I had a Euro for every time I heard “High Tea”, well, I’d be pretty well off by now. Truth is, a “High Tea” is a completely different thing altogether, back in Victorian times, tea was incredibly expensive, only the elite could afford to drink it as often as they wanted, the lower classes could only afford to…

New Lancôme Juicy Shakers & Sam McCauley’s Launch Party

    23rd March 2016 /

I know you’ve heard of Lancôme Juicy Tubes, right? They came out in the early ‘Naughties’, each one flavoured to match the colour, the ‘Watermelon’, being my tube of choice. Every Christmas they came in a selection box gift set- now tell me, what girl wouldn’t have been happy to have received one of these? Last week, Lancôme launched the new generation of the Juicy Tube, with a generation obsessed by cocktails, they introduced the ‘Juicy Shaker’, an irresistible range of  14 colours, presented in a mini cocktail shaker. This is not the first cocktail shaker that Lancôme have come out with, the original being a lipstick in a similar…
