Beyond The Border: Two Days in Belfast

    29th January 2019 /

Belfast, the second largest city on our beautiful green island and home to much conflict over the centuries. I took a couple of days away to this fabulous city where you’re guaranteed to have some fun! Situated 165km from Dublin, it’s just a two hour train ride on the Enterprise train which leaves you at Lanyon Station (formerly Belfast Central). The city centre is walking distance but if you show your train ticket to the driver, the bus into the heart of the city is free. I went with my Mum as we haven’t been away together in six years. We stayed at the Belfast Hampton by Hilton hotel on…

Marilyn Monroe: Newbridge ‘Museum Of Style Icons’

    16th July 2016 /

I love Marilyn Monroe, I have done for as long as I can remember. I’ve even placed my hands in her handprints during a dream-come-true holiday in Hollywood, when I was 20 years old. One of the most memorable exhibitions I had ever seen was in the Max Factor Museum in LA, movie props from different movies and even Marilyn’s own costumes… I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen, until I visited the Newbridge Museum of Style Icons, last week!         Newbridge has a special place in the hearts of Irish people,  from magnificent cutlery jewellery collections, glassware to Christmas decorations.. I used…

    Review: The Witchery Restaurant, Edinburgh

    11th November 2015 /

As I mentioned, in a previous post, we were recently in Edinburgh, for my Husband’s graduation ceremony. I had heard of The Witchery about nine years ago, around the first time I went to Edinburgh, unfortunately, it was fully booked, the same for the second visit, six years ago. As this visit was for a special occasion, I booked almost six months in advance and was thrilled to tell Ryan that we were finally going to The Witchery for his graduation dinner. Fast forward to October, The Witchery called me as I was at the Airport, waiting for my flight,  confirming the booking, I was so excited! The witchery is…

    A Weekend in Edinburgh

    8th November 2015 /

Spending a Weekend in Edinburgh? I have just come back from an incredibly exciting long weekend in Edinburgh! My  husband has spent the last seven years studying part time whilst working full time,  for a degree with The Open University He graduated in Edinburgh with honors on October 24th, along with Actor, Alan Cumming, who received an honorary Degree! I’ve been to Edinburgh three times now, the first to attend a ‘Most Haunted Live’ event and the second, was a Christmas gift to Ryan, I knew he’d love it there and he did, (which is why he chose it as the location for the Graduation, and to show his parents…

Orlando, what to see and how to get the best prices!

    26th March 2015 /

I write about the States a lot… I do, but you have to admit it is pretty awesome to visit! I’ve been going over to  my American Stepfather’s place since I was twelve, and since then, racked up some serious air mileage. Mostly I’d travel to the tri-state area around New York, in Summer camp, we’d venture up to Rhode Island and Massachusetts for trips. I craved more, such a huge country and so many cultures, each corner of it has a COMPLETELY different culture. L.A was always my tunnel vision. I know I can make things happen when I set my mind to it and after graduating Secondary school…
