Bloggies 2018 Finalists Announced: I MADE THE LIST!!
Warning:Flashing images/gif below I was having a rather tough day at work yesterday, you know the kind where nothing goes right, a sort of Murphy’s Law day? Packing up to head home at the end of the day, I decided to check my emails. Almost dropping my phone with excitement, there was an email to say that this little blog had made it through three rounds of judging to make it as a finalist at the Blog Awards Ireland 2018!! I had THE BIGGEST grin on my face during the train ride home that I’m sure my fellow passengers thought I was tapped or something. I 100% don’t expect to…

Dublin Horse Show, Ladies’ Day: Top Tips on Etiquette & The All Important Emergency Kit
So we’re down to the final few days until the beginning of the Dublin Horse Show. If you’re going to Ladies’ Day, you’ll have planned your outfit, chosen your hat and possibly planning your beauty routine as we speak. It’s one thing dressing up like a proper lady but you’ve got to pull the whole thing off, behaving ladylike with poise. “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades”.-Audrey HepburnOver the years, you’d be amazed at the sights you’d see, bright orange Tango tans, skimpy mini dresses with cleavage hanging out and the highest heels with platform shoes you could imagine, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a…

Dublin Horse Show 2017: Ladies’ Day Outfit Sorted
It’s hard to believe we’re into August already.. for me, that means one thing, ‘The Dublin Horse Show’ is happening again. Ladies’ Day takes place on Thursday 10th of August this year and it’s the highlight of my calendar. I LOVE the thrill of dressing up like a proper lady, gloves and heels, up-styles and most importantly the hat! After taking a year out from ladies’ day last year, there was just too much happening and my husband wasn’t well. I’m all set this year, everything is bought and ready, hat is booked, dress hanging in the wardrobe along with shoes, bag & parasol, all I’m in need of now…

The National Gallery Refurbishment & Vermeer Exhibition
I’ve always been a bit of an Art History buff, regularly visiting the National Gallery when I have time and I was really excited when they completed the work on the Dargan Wing and forecourt at the gallery. The re-opening was on my birthday so I didn’t get around to visiting until the following week. Normally on my birthday, I dress up in a pretty dress & heels, go in to town on the D.A.R.T, treat myself to a Laduree treat, box of Macaron’s or whatever I feel like, fresh flowers and a trip to the National Gallery. This year, Ryan surprised me with tickets to see Evita at the…

Killruddery House: Inside The Orangerie
I had to do something to come down from the party excitement, so whilst Norma from The House That Will was staying with me for the Birthday celebrations, I shared a favourite secret location of mine with her, Killruddery House. We woke up the day after the party with very sore heads, the sun belting in the window, Norma is like me, and old soul that appreciates beautiful things and Great Irish Houses and gardens. Norma had only heard me mention Killruddery but had never been there, often traveling to Wicklow with her Husband to places like Mount Usher. The Hell and Back event was happening on the estate so…

40th Birthday Party: Tapas and Heatwaves
I am so sorry it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, ever feel like everything is happening so fast around you that you can’t catch a second to catch your breath? If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I also work full time as we edge ever so closer to completing our house deposit save. I took a week off work to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday, we had a bit of a joint party because our birthdays are two days apart- we’re basically the same person, both Gemini and being married almost 7 years, we’ve never had one argument, not one! Anyway, as his wifey, I…

Hello again!
Hi guys, it’s been a couple of weeks, sorry for the lack of posts but I have been all over the place, trust me! My husband recently turned 40 and myself 35, I was planning a big party for the two of us and it was a fantastic evening, it also happened to be the hottest day of the year and of course I made a chocolate cake- that was fun let me tell you(not)! I took the week off work to try and get our apartment sorted, well, I told myself it would take two days but who was I kidding, I was bleaching voile curtains, shampooing the rugs,…

Guest Post from ‘The House That Will’: Scandi Rustic Christmas Garland
I have a very special guest post for my lovely readers, a really good friend of mine has started a beautiful new blog called ‘The House That Will’. Like myself, Norma is heavily into craft & DIY. Unfortunately, I don’t get much time to do any these days with a full time job and a house deposit to save up, but as soon as I get my house, the blog will be awash with craft projects, all my craft and cake decorating supplies are buried in boxes and I can’t get at them, our apartment rental is way too small to even swing a cat… so I would like to…

Chistmas: 10 Tips On Avoiding The Stress
Christmas eh? It’s already well into November, high street shops are completely immersed in the spirit, not to mention the delicious festive drinks in places like Starbucks & Costa.. You can’t help but feel a little anxious about the whole thing, “am I not prepared enough…. should I have my gifts already bought? …” even down to the supermarkets… you go in for two or three items, you see someone with a basket overflowing and suddenly that anxiety builds up again “What am I forgetting?!” Here’s my top 10 tips on getting super organised for the yuletide season.. Ditch The Clutter: If you have children especially, you’re going to want…

The ‘Humble Crumble’ Apple Crumble Bars I Entered Into The Happy Pear’s Apple Festival Bake Off!
There’s one thing every Irish person appreciates and that’s an apple tart, or a crumble for that matter, we’ll take them any way, with rhubarb, with pouring cream, with ice cream or even warm custard, just gorgeous. There is always a little bit of controversy though over crunchy apples or soft gooey stewed apples, I prefer the latter personally, stewed in brown sugar and butter until the apples have gone all squishy and then loads of cinnamon.. Can you imagine my delight when The Happy Pear in Greystones were giving away free Bramley apples to those who wanted to take part in their own apple baking festival- or bake-off? I…

‘Ancient East’ jewellery collection launch at AMOC, Greystones
When you think about it, Ireland is home to some pretty serious talent, be it fashion, jewellery, music or art… nothing really comes close! This beautiful Island of ours has been churning out talent pretty much since the stone age.. With the new Failte Ireland ‘Ireland’s Ancient East’ campaign in full swing, it’s a perfect time to focus on another Artist on the east coast. Mette O’Connor, a Danish-Irish jewellery designer with a background in art & design , fulfilled her dream and opened a studio/retail space in Greystones village in 2007 where she offers a bespoke service as well as offering ready to wear pieces, so beautifully…

Late At Pichet Launch
Continuing on a cocktail theme this week, I was invited along to Pichet last weekend for the launch of their new ‘Late at Pichet’ nights. Pichet is, like Marcel’s, part of the Merchantile Group, I mentioned before that any venues owned by the Merchantile, usually ooze panache and class, Pichet DEFINITELY hits that status. Situated around the corner from Dublin’s French Quarter, in Trinity St, you’ll find Pichet, a stunning bistro style restaurant which has recently undergone a serious makeover from it’s instantly recognisable royal blue leather chairs and monochrome tiled floor to lavish burnt orange and crisp white linens. Even the fascade looks completely different, it’s more luxurious and…

Cocktail Masterclass at Marcel’s
I’m sitting watching a documentary about American heiresses and “Million Dollar Princesses” of the 1920’s & 1930’s, Wallis Simpson, Lady Emerald Cunard, I LOVE this sort of thing… hearing 1920’s jazz and seeing them sip Martini’s has me thinking about delicious cocktails.. I’m all over anything from the 1920’s, especially cocktails! Last Thursday, I was invited to an exclusive, invitation only Cocktail Masterclass “influencer night” at Marcel’s to celebrate their first year on Merrion Row after relocating from Ballsbridge. I did a review of their restaurant after our Valentines meal last February. It’s part of the Merchantile Group, owners of some of Dublin’s swankiest bars, restaurants and clubs, Opium, Cafe…

Marilyn Monroe: Newbridge ‘Museum Of Style Icons’
I love Marilyn Monroe, I have done for as long as I can remember. I’ve even placed my hands in her handprints during a dream-come-true holiday in Hollywood, when I was 20 years old. One of the most memorable exhibitions I had ever seen was in the Max Factor Museum in LA, movie props from different movies and even Marilyn’s own costumes… I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen, until I visited the Newbridge Museum of Style Icons, last week! Newbridge has a special place in the hearts of Irish people, from magnificent cutlery jewellery collections, glassware to Christmas decorations.. I used…
